Bhopal: In a case that has triggered widespread outrage in Madhya Pradesh’s capital, two sisters from Bhopal have been arrested on allegations of rape, forced religious conversion, and operating an alleged sex racket under the pretext of providing employment to economically vulnerable women.

The accused — identified as Amreen and Afreen — were arrested along with their associate Chandan Yadav after two women filed separate complaints at Bagh Sewania police station. Three other accused — Bilal, Chanu, and Yasir — are currently absconding, according to police officials.

From Abbas Nagar to Luxury Villa

Police sources revealed that the sisters previously lived in a modest dwelling in Abbas Nagar but had recently shifted to an upscale residence in Sagar Royal Villas in Bhopal. Investigators suspect that the transition from a slum locality to a luxury property may have been financed through illegal earnings generated by exploiting young women.

Authorities are now examining the accused’s financial transactions, property records, and digital trail to determine the source of funds.

Allegations: Job Offers Turned Exploitation

According to the FIR:

  • The accused allegedly targeted women from economically weaker backgrounds.
  • They offered domestic jobs with a monthly salary of ₹10,000.
  • Free accommodation, food, and a “high-profile lifestyle” were promised.

However, complainants allege that the situation escalated into exploitation. They claim they were gradually introduced to parties, pubs, and lounges, where they were pressured to socialize with affluent men.

Both women have alleged that they were coerced into consuming alcohol and narcotics, including MD drugs. In certain instances, they claim they were drugged and sexually assaulted.

Interstate Angle Emerges

One complainant, a 21-year-old beautician from Mungeli district in Chhattisgarh, alleged that she was taken to Ahmedabad in December 2025 under the pretext of work. There, she claimed she was raped by Yasir, described as a relative of one of the accused sisters.

She further alleged that Bilal and Chanu assaulted her on separate occasions.

The second complainant, a 32-year-old resident of Bhopal who worked as a domestic help at Amreen’s house, alleged that Chandan Yadav raped her at his sister’s residence in Narayan Nagar after she was left alone there. She claimed she was threatened with death and defamation if she disclosed the incident.

Police are investigating the interstate movement of victims, including alleged travel to Gujarat and Mumbai.

Forced Religious Conversion Allegations

One of the most serious charges involves alleged forced religious conversion.

According to the FIR:

  • Chandan Yadav allegedly told one of the victims that he had converted to Islam.
  • He allegedly pressured her to convert, promising marriage into a “good family.”
  • The victim claims she was compelled to adopt religious practices, including wearing a burqa and offering prayers.

Police are probing these allegations under relevant provisions related to forced conversion and sexual assault.

Digital Evidence and Wider Network Suspected

During the arrests, police seized mobile phones belonging to the accused. Officials stated that several suspicious WhatsApp groups were discovered on one of the devices, allegedly containing photographs of multiple young women.

Investigators suspect the possibility of:

  • A broader organized network
  • Cross-state coordination
  • Recruitment pipelines targeting vulnerable women

Authorities are currently analyzing digital communications, call records, and financial trails.

Blackmail and Threat Allegations

The complainants told police that:

  • They were photographed in compromising situations.
  • These images were allegedly used to blackmail them.
  • Threats of violence and public defamation were issued when they attempted to leave.

Police are verifying these claims and examining whether extortion or trafficking charges may also apply.

Official Statement

Additional DCP Gautam Solanki confirmed that a case has been registered at Bagh Sewania police station. He stated that:

  • A rape case has been filed.
  • Accused persons are being questioned.
  • Further investigation is ongoing.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific sections invoked but confirmed that serious charges, including rape and conspiracy, are under investigation.

Investigation Focus Areas

Police are currently probing:

  • Financial transactions and property acquisitions
  • Travel records across states
  • Digital communication evidence
  • Alleged recruitment patterns
  • Possible involvement of additional individuals

Officials are also examining whether the case represents an isolated criminal enterprise or a larger organized racket operating across multiple cities.

Legal Status

  • Three accused remain absconding.
  • Search operations are underway.
  • Digital forensic analysis is in progress.

Conclusion

With allegations spanning sexual assault, blackmail, forced religious conversion, and interstate operations, investigators are treating the matter as a potentially organized criminal network.

Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and further disclosures will depend on forensic and financial evidence currently being examined.

The case continues to develop as police intensify their probe into what they describe as a complex and deeply disturbing operation.
