Delhi Police’s North-West District has worked out a case of house-breaking and burglary registered at Keshav Puram Police Station with the arrest of a habitual offender and recovery of stolen property, including gold jewellery and a scooty used in the crime.
According to an official press release issued on February 22, 2026 36929_22 02 26 NWD PS KP BURGLA…, the accused has been identified as Deepak alias Virender Babbar, a resident of Sultanpuri, Delhi. He has been described by police as a “Bad Character (BC)” of PS Keshav Puram and is allegedly involved in more than 65 cases of theft, burglary, robbery and related offences across various police stations in Delhi.
Incident Details
The case pertains to FIR No. 44/26 under Sections 305A and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), registered on February 11, 2026 at PS Keshav Puram 36929_22 02 26 NWD PS KP BURGLA….
Police said a PCR call was received on February 11 regarding a house-breaking and theft incident. The complainant, Anil, a resident of Chander Nagar, Tri Nagar, reported that he and his family had gone to attend a wedding function. Upon returning home around 11:30 PM, they found the lock of their house broken and gold and silver jewellery along with cash missing from the almirah.
Investigation and Surveillance
Given the nature of the offence, a dedicated team was constituted under the supervision of senior officers. During investigation, police conducted extensive technical surveillance and route analysis.
Officials stated that the accused had used a scooty to reach the crime spot and were wearing helmets to conceal their identities. Around 600 CCTV cameras installed in and around the area were analysed. The suspects were found to have changed routes multiple times to avoid detection. The scooty’s registration number was traced but later found to be fake.
After tracking their movement for nearly 15 kilometres, police narrowed down the route towards the Agar Nagar and Prem Nagar-III areas. Surveillance continued for about a week before a breakthrough was achieved
Arrest and Recovery
On February 18, 2026, the accused Deepak was apprehended after a brief chase. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to committing the burglary along with an associate identified as Vikas.
Police recovered house-breaking tools, gloves and a button-actuated knife from his rented accommodation. Approximately 20 grams of stolen gold jewellery were recovered from his residence in Sultanpuri. A stolen scooty, allegedly used in the commission of the offence and earlier stolen from the Paschim Vihar area, was also seized
Police further stated that another portion of the stolen gold had been handed over to an individual identified as Satender alias Rocky of Mangolpuri for safekeeping. A gold necklace weighing approximately 20 grams was subsequently produced and seized during a raid
Criminal Background
Verification of records revealed that the accused has previous involvement in more than 65 criminal cases related to property offences. Police stated that he frequently changed rented accommodations to evade detection.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the co-accused Vikas. Further investigation into the case is underway
