Bringing closure to one of the most horrifying crime sprees in Haryana’s recent history, a Faridabad court has sentenced notorious serial killer Singh Raj to life imprisonment for the murder of six girls, including three minors.
The court also imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh, holding the accused guilty of committing cold-blooded, premeditated killings that terrorised the region for years.
The verdict marks the culmination of a long and complex investigation into a series of murders that exposed extreme brutality and calculated criminal behaviour.
Conviction Built on Strong Technical EvidenceThe prosecution successfully established Singh Raj’s guilt through technical evidence, call detail records (CDRs) and a clear, repeated pattern of crime across all six cases.
The court noted that the similarity in the method of killing left little room for doubt, firmly categorising the crimes as serial killings.
Investigators demonstrated that the accused followed the same modus operandi in each case, linking him conclusively to all the murders.
A Chilling Pattern of Crime According to police and court records, Singh Raj targeted girls from economically weaker backgrounds, exploiting their vulnerability.
His method was disturbingly consistent:He first befriended the victim’s family and gained their trustGradually increased his presence in their livesSexually assaulted the victims when he found an opportunity Strangled them to death if they resisted or raised alarmStuffed the bodies into sacks and disposed of them in the Agra Canal, often transporting them on a bicycleMost of the victims were minors, making the crimes even more grievous.
Profile of the ConvictS ingh Raj is a resident of Jasana village in Faridabad and was employed as a security guard at a private hospital in Sector 16. Police told the court that he was largely estranged from his family, with no relatives willing to maintain contact with him.Shockingly, this was not his first brush with extreme violence.
In 1987, Singh Raj had been accused of murdering his uncle and cousin.
Although he was arrested at the time, he was acquitted due to lack of evidence, a factor the court acknowledged while assessing his long-standing violent tendencies.
Court’s ObservationsThe court described Singh Raj as a serious threat to society, stating that his crimes reflected a complete disregard for human life and dignity.
While acknowledging the brutality of the offences, the court ruled that life imprisonment was an appropriate punishment based on the totality of circumstances.
Relief for Victims’ Families Families of the victims expressed a sense of relief after the judgment, stating that while no punishment could undo their loss, the conviction brings a measure of justice and ensures that the accused will never harm another child.
A Stark Reminder The case has once again underlined the importance of early detection of repeat offenders, the role of forensic and digital evidence, and the urgent need for safeguarding vulnerable communities.
The conviction of Singh Raj stands as a strong message that even the most calculated and long-running crimes can be brought to justice through persistent investigation and judicial scrutiny.
