A serious case involving sexual assault on a minor has been reported from the Ahmedabad district of Gujarat. According to Ahmedabad Police, a 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which allegedly took place in the Gaikwad Haveli area of Jamalpur.
Police officials stated that the accused, identified as Noman Sheikh (23), is a neighbour of the victim, a seven-year-old child. As per the preliminary investigation, the accused allegedly took the child to the roof area of a mosque under the pretext of religious instruction, where the offence was committed.
Swift Police Action
The incident was reported to the police, following which a case was registered immediately. Law enforcement authorities acted promptly and apprehended the accused within a few hours of receiving the complaint.
CCTV Footage Key to Investigation
Confirming the developments, police officer Chirag Gosai said that CCTV cameras installed in and around the mosque premises were examined during the probe.
“The footage clearly shows the accused taking the child towards the rooftop area,” the officer said, adding that the video forms a crucial piece of evidence in the case.
Legal Proceedings
The police have registered the case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and other applicable laws. The accused has been produced before a court, and further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events.
Support for the Victim
Authorities confirmed that the minor has been provided medical examination and psychological counselling, and the case is being handled with strict confidentiality as mandated by law.
