Four people sustained injuries after a cylinder explosion in the Mangolpuri area of Outer Delhi on Sunday afternoon, officials confirmed. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), a distress call regarding the explosion was received at around 1:00 pm, following which multiple fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the location. Fire officials said the situation was brought under control within a short time, preventing further damage.
Eyewitness Account
An eyewitness, Gopal Jha, who was present near the site, said he witnessed chaos in the aftermath of the blast.
“I was returning home when the explosion occurred. There was panic all around. Around eight to ten people came together to help the injured,” he said.
According to the eyewitness, the injured included one child, one woman, and two men. All four were taken to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for medical care. The incident reportedly took place near L Block, Mangolpuri, close to Bhagat Singh Park.
Investigation Underway
Officials said further details regarding the cause of the explosion are awaited, and an investigation has been initiated to determine whether there was any safety lapse.
Earlier Fire Incident in the Area
Earlier, a major fire was reported at a banquet hall in the Mangolpuri area, prompting the deployment of at least 19 fire engines. While no injuries were reported in that incident, the banquet hall suffered extensive damage.
Authorities have urged residents to follow safety norms while using gas cylinders and report any leaks or hazards immediately to avoid such incidents.
