The upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to begin in the national capital on February 16, is already creating a significant economic ripple effect, with hotel tariffs across Delhi witnessing an unprecedented spike. Room prices at several luxury properties have surged dramatically during the summit period, in some cases reaching ₹4 lakh per night and above.

The four-day summit is being positioned as the largest global artificial intelligence summit hosted so far, and one of the most prominent AI-focused gatherings ever held in the Global South. Organisers have described the event as a platform focused on responsible, inclusive, and socially impactful artificial intelligence.
Massive Global Participation Expected
According to official estimates, the summit is expected to draw delegations from more than 100 countries. Attendance is likely to include 15–20 Heads of Government, over 50 ministers, and more than 40 CEOs from leading Indian and international companies.
Interest in the event has been strong, with over 35,000 registrations already recorded. Participants are expected from governments, global technology firms, Indian startups, academic institutions, civil society organisations, and international bodies, underscoring the summit’s global scale and strategic relevance.
Luxury Hotel Rates Skyrocket
Even before the summit begins, its commercial impact is evident in the hospitality sector. Room tariffs between February 15 and February 19 have risen sharply compared to normal periods.
At The Leela Palace New Delhi, room rates for February 17 show a dramatic increase, with some categories listed at nearly ₹4 lakh per night, compared to rates of under ₹60,000 on non-summit dates in March.
Similar trends are visible at Taj Palace New Delhi, where entry-level rooms during the summit period are priced upwards of ₹85,000 per night, while premium suites reportedly go into multi-lakh territory. In contrast, bookings for April show significantly lower tariffs.
At The Oberoi New Delhi, room rates for the same dates reportedly climb as high as ₹5 lakh, with a minimum stay requirement of two nights.
Economic Signal of Summit Scale
Industry experts say such price escalation reflects exceptionally high demand driven by the convergence of global leaders, policymakers, and technology executives in the city. The surge also highlights the immediate economic benefits—and pressures—of hosting a summit of this scale.
As India prepares to welcome the global AI community, the spike in hotel tariffs underscores both the international importance of the summit and the commercial impact large global events can generate for urban economies.
